The Bayleaf Community Kitchen Geelong – Marty Rowan & Andrew Costa
Bay Leaf Community Kitchen is a non-profit charity providing home cooked meals for families in need in the Geelong region. Bay Leaf Community Kitchen supports families through difficult times by providing hot, nutritious meals and food hampers. Our belief is that love is transferred through our actions. When we give our best, gratitude flows and we set a positive example of love.
At the heart of our vision for Bay Leaf Community Kitchen is our drive to provide excellence in the provision of food relief in the Geelong region.Contemplating the diverse problems associated within this sector we wanted to innovate and make a broader impact than just relieving hunger. We wanted to be able to affect positive change in people’s lives and especially impact children’s lived experience of family and community.
Often when families are impacted by health, financial or emotional distress, managing nutrition becomes difficult. By providing the best quality food, we can support them in recovering and inspire them to positive action. Our service, which encourages families to share a healthy meal together at home, strengthens family relationships and provides opportunities, such as love, communication and joy within the home.

The generous work of volunteers each week makes the preparation and delivery of our meals and hampers possible and we are very grateful for their time and compassion.
The rapport developed between the families and our volunteers is what lifts our service above being just a food relief agency to being a service which elevates, encourages, inspires and loves all those we work with.
How do you measure the joy and relief, the comfort and stability that those relationships and a basket of delicious food brings into a home?
